Ceratopteris is widespread in the tropics and we can grow to be 30 tall and wide. Most of the time this plant grows quickly, but the addition of CO2 may be necessary to promote growth. It grows out of small open aquariums and forms beautiful leaves above the water. The finely branched leaves are very decorative and contrast well with other leaf shapes.
With high illuminance, it is fast-growing and anti-algae because it uses up a lot of nutrients from the water. This is why Ceratopteris thalictroides is also a good starter plant in smaller aquariums.
